Pre season practice match against Southern Samity

After the abandoned match against Kalighat, Mohun Bagan has played their 5th pre season practice match against Southern Samity.Match started at 3 PM and the Nigerian sensation Chiddi made 1-0 before the ‘second-hand’ of the clock could make a single revolution. It was a typical Chiddi goal.He received the ball from Vasan’s center then dodged past two defenders & scored. After this great start we expected a goal rush but Mohun Bagan looked bit slow after 20 minutes of the game. Players concentrated on implementing some moves than going for all out game. May be it was a strategy of Karim.Branco looked off colour today. He missed a golden opportunity in the first half. Player of the half was Tomba Singh.His snatching,dribbling,passing was excellent. Within short time he is getting his past form back.It seems that Tomba will be one of the significant recruits of the season.First half ended with 1-0. In the second half Kartik came to support Chiddi replacing Branco.Karim introduced a new midfield set up consisting of Suvo-Santa-Kulu & they didn’t let the coach down. After few minutes Chiddi headed the ball into the net from Santa’s cross to make the score line 2-0.Karan Atwal got the open net but he did perfect defender’s job by clearing the ball instead of pushing the ball into the net. This was the best chance but worst fumble of the game. Then Marcos & Kartik added their name in the list.Finally match ended with 4-0.It could have been ended up with half-dozen but goal-miss is a part of game. It was the the 5th clean sheet of the season. In the last 5 matches goal keepers were hardly tested. So Mr.Karim Bencharifa wants tougher opponents.
